To foster professionals specialized in applications of information and computing technology in real world, ready for emerging future information and knowledge society.
There is a continuing shortage of individuals with a combination of business and technology skills needed to develop and manage information and computer systems that provide competitive advantages in the global marketplace. The mission of the B.S. in Applied Information Engineering (AIE) program is to produce graduates who can fill this need. In this regard, the AIE program aims at training students with the basic principles with real-world cases using advanced information and computing technologies. Technologies taught in this program touches upon the basics of computing, such as programming and databases, up to advanced ones such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, big data analytics, and social and mobile computing. Up to date curriculum cultivates students’ skills dealing with realistic cases using learned techniques and methods. The curriculum consists of not only customized and evolving technology courses following real-world situations and problems, but also business problem solving oriented soft skill type course, such as technology project management, strategic management, technical writing, etc.
Graduates of the AIE program can be placed in almost fields in various positions as information and computing technologies are expected to more and more infiltrate every corner of our society and life. Employment opportunities can be found across disciplines and industries. Many IT service companies such as Kakao, Naver, Google, and Facebook, as well as firms involved in systems development and integration are looking graduates equipped with strong technological knowledge balanced with appropriate management competencies with real-world cases. Situation is the same in finance and banking industries, public corporations, public agencies and research institutes.
